Association of the Finnish Stutterers

Association of the Finnish Stutterers (AFS) is founded 1969.

The main objects of AFS are to promote the contacts between stutterers, to relieve the life of the stutterers and to take care of the interests of the stutterers. Thus the most important activities of AFS are:

  • The communication between stutterers (the meetings of the association, self- help groups, periodical Puheen vuoro and information letters to the members).
  • Promoting the stuttering therapy courses for children and adults (financing: Finland's Slot Machine Association, The Social Insurance Institution in Finland and communities)
  • Information activities (eg. The International Stuttering Awareness Day 22.10.) and co-operation with other handicap organizations, speech therapists and international stuttering organizations.

The association counts about 350 members.
